Home of comedy legends such as Monty Python and the Goodies, the Cambridge Footlights Revue has launched many a great comedy star. Wordsworth, Milton, Newton and Byron all studied at Cambridge University. Dating back to the thirteenth century, Cambridge has seen many great thinkers and intellects over the years.
Places to see while here include the thousand years old Daily Market in Market Street. The views across the River Cam offer a passing sketcher a spot or two from which to settle.
Cambridge University is scattered across the city and can be viewed in most places. Some highly recommended spots are that of the courtyard of Corpus Christi College, the oldest college courtyard dating back to 1352.
Many attractions in Cambridge are within walking distance but should the need arise to wander further out, literary enthusiasts should head to the Rupert Brooks country of Trumpington, the village of Grantchester.
